Balancing Exercise (Perfect for Empaths)
The most important thing you can do to gain control of the body and calm down emotional states is breath control (pranayama). Prana is Sanskrit for breath and ayama is to suspend or arrest. There is great power in the cycle of human breathing. Tapping into this will help you relax and recharge yourself. It can be helpful as a first step in detaching other's energies from yours. You will also notice greater clarity of thought and more physical stamina.
The best place to start is by simply monitoring (watching) the breath as an observer. This you can do anytime...anyplace. No one will notice what you are doing so no need to be shy. Perfect for the workplace.
Start by taking a slow, deep breath in. Listen to the sound that your body makes. "SO" as in you inhale. Exhale deeply and slowly...listen....."HUM" is the sound produced.
Use these sounds as mantra. Another deep, slow breath...this time say to yourself "SO" on the inhale. Pause for a split second.
Then exhale....repeat "HUM" to yourself as you release your breath slowly.
Within just a few breaths...repeating SO HUM internally as you breathe... you will begin to relax. Drop your shoulders ... release the tension in your face and neck....allow your body to relax and breathing to fall into a natural deep rhythm.
You may do this for as little or as long as you need to re-balance your breath.
After balancing your breath with the SO HUM breathing you may begin a visualization.
Choose a place that gives you comfort.
Like a beautiful garden or a peaceful stream. Personally, I visualize a garden with a place to sit in the center. Very peaceful...all the colors that I love...with a fountain ...so relaxing.

Close your eyes.
See yourself walking down a path into your private sanctuary. A place of solitude that no one else may enter. This is your place for privacy and rejuvenation.
Enter your sanctuary and have a seat. Feel the breeze on your face. Smell the pleasant surroundings. Recharge yourself in this beautiful setting. Let all tension go. No worries here. No place for it. Time does not exist here. Envision yourself bathed in a golden white light from above....removing any illness or stress that remains. Sit here as long as you need. When you feel balanced... you may take the path back to a rested, wakeful state.
Hope that you find this helpful,
Much Love,
I still do this since you shared the practice with me! I find it very comforting in times of great stress! Thank you!
